Alix Lambert is a multi-talented individual with a wide range of accomplishments in the fields of documentary filmmaking, writing, and art. Her feature-length documentary, The Mark of Cain, was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award and received an honorable mention from the French Association of Journalism, airing on Nightline. She went on to produce additional segments for Nightline and 7 segments for the PBS series LIFE 360.
Lambert has directed and produced two other feature-length documentaries, Bayou Blue and Mentor, and is currently working on Goodbye, Fat Larry. She has also directed numerous shorts and music videos, including You As You Were for the band Shearwater and Tiffany (POV). Her work has been exhibited internationally, showing in The Venice Biennale, The Museum of Modern Art, The Georges Pompidou Center, and the Kwangju Biennnale, among others.
As a writer, Lambert has written for various magazines, including Stop Smiling, ArtForum, The LA Weekly, and Filmmaker Magazine. She has also written for television, including Episode 6, season 3 of Deadwood, for which she was nominated for a WGA award. Additionally, she has written for the video game Syndicate.
Lambert has received numerous awards and grants, including nominations for an Independent Spirit Award, a WGA award, and a grant from the NEA. She has also received residencies and fellowships from The MacDowell Colony, Headlands, The Studios of Key West, The McColl Center, and The MIT Media Lab.
As an artist, Lambert has co-founded and is co-artistic director of The Brooklyn International Theater Company, and has written and directed two original series for MOCAtv. She has also conceived of and directed the forthcoming Prison Zoo and has produced a segment for This American Life.
