Biography

Born in British India at Gujrat, Punjab, now present-day Pakistan, he was the eldest son of C.D. Chaudhri, an officer working in the British Government Department of Information and Broadcasting.

His love for cinema began at a young age of eight when his uncle, a projectionist at a local cinema, would bring dinner to the projection room and let him watch films night after night. He was mesmerized by the magic of the projector, creating images on the screen, and the way audiences would laugh and cry during the movies. It was then that he decided he would be the one to create that magic on the screen.

At the age of 11, he shared his dream of becoming a Hollywood director with his friends, but they laughed at him. However, he believed in his heart that one day his dream would come true. At 18, he left his country for England to study Political Science and Economics at the direction of his father. Two years later, he set sail for America to pursue his childhood dream of becoming a film director.

He enrolled in New York University and graduated in 1965. He then directed, photographed, and edited his first feature film, "Scandal That Rocked Britain," in 1963. The film was shown worldwide. He worked as a film editor, music and effects editor on many film projects. He then worked as a cinematographer on independent features, television, and documentaries.

In 1985, he formed Continental Film Group to produce quality independent feature films. He started his own movie studio in rural Pennsylvania, where he has made seven feature films. Two of his biggest hits include "Tiger Warsaw" (1988),starring Patrick Swayze, and "Diary of a Hit Man" (1991),starring Forest Whitaker. His films have been showcased in numerous international film festivals, including Cannes, Duville, Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Cairo, and Calcutta.
