Andre was born in the vibrant city of Chicago, but his formative years were spent in the vast expanse of Arizona, where the inky blackness of the night sky sparked a profound passion for astronomy and space exploration within him. This innate curiosity eventually led him to pursue a Bachelor of Science in physics, followed by a Master's degree in science, technology, and space policy, which he earned under the esteemed NASA Space Grant Fellowship at The George Washington University.
As his academic and professional journey unfolded, Andre found himself drawn to the captivating world of science fiction, specifically the Star Trek franchise. He became the science consultant for the franchise in 1993, and his expertise soon led to him writing episodes for the popular series Star Trek: Voyager. His talent and dedication earned him the opportunity to transition into a full-time writing and co-producing role on Star Trek: Enterprise.
Andre's impressive résumé continued to grow as he worked on various television projects, including the CBS series Threshold and Eleventh Hour, the syndicated series Legend of the Seeker, and Disney XD's Tron: Uprising. He also lent his expertise to the FOX / National Geographic production of Cosmos, serving as a writer and consulting producer, and worked as a writer and co-executive producer on the National Geographic miniseries Mars.
In recent years, Andre has been involved in the production of several notable projects, including the Hulu series The Orville, where he serves as a writer and co-executive producer, and the NBCU / Peacock series The End is Nye, in which he also holds the role of writer and co-executive producer. In addition to his work in television, Andre is also dedicated to giving back to his community, serving on the board of directors for the Griffith Observatory's fundraising nonprofit organization, Friends Of The Observatory.
