Andrea True, a Nashville-born actress, relocated to New York City to pursue her acting career. Despite landing a few extra roles in films like "The Way We Were" (1973) and "40 Carats" (1973),she eventually transitioned into the adult entertainment industry.
True became one of the most recognizable names in the business, albeit not one of the highest-paid, with a salary of $500 per film. As she continued to work in the adult industry, she also sought to break into mainstream films, but her efforts were unsuccessful.
During this time, True wrote music for TV commercials and performed at various clubs throughout New York City. She was assigned to shoot commercials on the Caribbean island of Jamaica, but the political instability on the island made it impossible for her to leave with the money she earned.
To overcome this obstacle, True called her friend and record producer, Gregg Diamond, who brought a music track to the island. True and Diamond collaborated on the music, hired local musicians, and recorded a song in a local studio. The instrumental track Diamond had produced, combined with True's vocals, became the hit single "More More More (How Do You Like It?)" in 1976.
True went on to record a few more albums, but none achieved the same level of success as her debut effort. In 1980, she abruptly left the adult entertainment industry and remained largely out of the public eye until her death at the age of 68 on November 7, 2011.
True's life was marked by her transition from acting to adult entertainment, her success in the disco era, and her eventual departure from the industry.
