Andrew Pozza was born and raised in the vibrant city of San Antonio, Texas, where he would later return to finish his academic pursuits. He initially attended Texas State, formerly Southwest Texas State University, to study theatre, before making the decision to transfer to the University of Texas in Austin to pursue a degree in film, specifically in the Radio-Television-Film department.
However, in 2001, Andrew decided to take a bold step and drop out of college, relocating to Los Angeles to pursue a career in any field that would have him. This decision would ultimately lead to a series of unconventional opportunities.
Fast forward to 2005, Andrew's decision to attend film school would finally pay off when an ex-actor from a film school short, Derek Nixon, approached him to direct a horror script, Hallettsville, which Nixon had co-written with a friend. After multiple failed attempts to convince the producers to shoot one of his quirky dramedies, Pozza agreed to direct the film, injecting a unique sense of quirk by incorporating the talents of actor Gary Busey.
In 2010, Andrew returned to his hometown of San Antonio to complete his academic degree, this time in English. During this time, his screenplay, A Schizophrenic Love Story, became a finalist in the Austin Film Festival Screenplay competition and would later be produced by Nixon once again. Andrew collaborated with fellow filmmaker Dylan Thomas Ellis, whom he had met in Los Angeles, to bring the film to life.
Andrew took a semester off in 2011 to work on the film Supernatural Activity (2012),which would eventually be released. He graduated in December 2012, just before the world was on the brink of a perceived apocalypse, or at the very least, according to some individuals.
