She majored in drama at Northwestern University and honed her craft under the guidance of renowned acting coach Lee Strasberg, widely regarded as the father of method acting in America. Despite her promising academic career, Aneta made the bold decision to drop out of her junior year to pursue a career in acting.
Aneta's early foray into television included guest appearances on the live program Producers' Showcase in 1955 and the drama series Robert Montgomery Presents, hosted by the esteemed Robert Montgomery. However, it wasn't until 1958 that she made her feature film debut, starring alongside Steve McQueen in the cult science fiction classic The Blob.
Aneta's most iconic role emerged in 1963, when she first appeared as the independent and self-sufficient schoolteacher Helen Crump on The Andy Griffith Show.
