Before embarking on his acting career, Anirudh Agarwal pursued a degree in Civil Engineering from Roorkee University, now known as the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, graduating in 1974. His enterprising personality led him to become the sports representative in his school and college by the age of 19. During his time at Roorkee University, he served as the General Secretary of the youth council, fighting for students' rights. At that time, students were required to wear white attire, which was deemed objectionable by many students who couldn't afford it due to their socio-economic backgrounds.
Following his graduation, Anirudh traveled to Bombay (now Mumbai) with just Rs. 100, determined to pursue his passion for acting.
Although many may not recognize him by name from his films, his intimidating appearance has made him a household name. Some of his most notable films include Purana Mandir (1984),Bandh Darwaza (1990),and Saamri (1985). He has also appeared in a few Hollywood productions, such as Bandit Queen (1994),Such a Long Journey (1998),and The Jungle Book (1994). His films continue to be regularly broadcast on popular television channels.
After making a cameo appearance in Mallika (2010),Anirudh Agarwal has been enjoying a private life with his wife and children, and may return to the screen if a future project piques his interest.
