Biography

Anna Kournikova, a renowned Russian former professional tennis player and American television personality, has made a lasting impact on the global tennis scene. Her striking appearance and celebrity status have catapulted her to status iconic, rendering her one of the most recognizable tennis stars worldwide.

Although she never managed to claim a singles title, Kournikova's impressive career saw her reach the No. 8 position in the world rankings in 2000. Her true forte, however, lay in doubles play, where she ascended to the top spot as the world's No. 1 player. In partnership with Martina Hingis, she secured Grand Slam titles in Australia in 1999 and 2002, as well as the WTA Championships in 1999 and 2000. Kournikova's professional doubles record stands at an impressive 200-71, while her singles record reads 209-129.

Tragically, Kournikova was forced to retire from professional tennis at the tender age of 21 due to chronic back and spinal problems. She went on to pursue a new career as a trainer for season 12 of the popular television show The Biggest Loser, replacing Jillian Michaels. Although she did not return for season 13, Kournikova continues to be involved in various endeavors.

In addition to her work in tennis and television, Kournikova serves as a Global Ambassador for Population Services International's "Five & Alive" program, a vital initiative aimed at addressing the health crises affecting children under the age of five and their families worldwide.
