Anna Tierney is a talented English actress born in Manchester to Irish and Austrian heritage, raised in Northolt, West London. Her parents are renowned actor Malcolm Tierney and visual artist Andrea Tierney.
Anna began filming as a series regular in the highly anticipated 'Three Pines' Inspector Gamache series in August 2021, starring alongside Alfred Molina. The series is based on the best-selling crime novels by Louise Penny and is produced by Amazon Prime, Left Bank Pictures, and Sony.
Anna trained at the Drama Centre London, supported by various awards and the guidance of esteemed actors Jeremy Irons, Ian McKellen, Kitty Aldridge, Timothy West, Ian McShane, and Roger Lloyd Pack. After graduating, she landed a role in the BBC's long-running series 'Doctors', playing Marianne Hartwell.
In 2020, Anna voiced characters in the hit animation series 'Summer Lane Drive' and played Pandora in 'Psycho Goreman', which premiered at SXSW festival and became an instant cult classic. She also filmed the Channel 4 and Story Films drama 'Deceit', portraying real-life mother and victim Samantha Bisset.
Anna has performed with the UK's most prestigious theatre companies, including The Globe, The National, The Royal Shakespeare Company, and Bristol Old Vic. She created the show 'Skate Hard, Turn Left' at the Battersea Arts Centre, a devised, highly physical theatre show performed entirely on roller skates.
Anna is a highly skilled skater and played roller derby semi-professionally for 8 years with London Roller Derby. She has worked with acclaimed playwright Timberlake Wertenbaker on several plays, including 'Our Country's Good' and 'What is the Custom of Your Grief?' for Women Centre Stage at the National Theatre.
Anna studied Modern and Medieval Languages on a scholarship at Oxford University and speaks fluent German. She has collaborated as a Performance Artist for international museums and Art festivals, including the Singapore Biennale, Helmaus Zürich, This is Tomorrow, and LUX Associate Artists.
Anna's partner is acclaimed musician and singer Gabriel DeSantis, with whom she met while performing in 'Our Country's Good' at Toronto's Royal Alexandra Theater.
