Tony Paone, a talented Italian-American actor, was born in Bova Marina, Italy, but his life took a dramatic turn when he moved to New Orleans at just 18 months old. Growing up in the French Quarter, he was surrounded by a vibrant melting pot of characters that would later influence his ability to craft complex and nuanced characters on stage and screen.
As a young adult, Paone worked a variety of jobs, including stints as a men's clothing salesman, grocery clerk, and even a military police officer in the U.S. Army. He also pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Orleans, as well as training in classical ballet.
This unique blend of experiences and skills would ultimately shape Paone's career as a performer, allowing him to bring a depth and range to his roles that has earned him critical acclaim. His ability to convey a sense of sullen intensity and naive charm has even inspired director Francis James to write a film specifically with him in mind.
Paone has had the opportunity to work with numerous celebrities and stars, as well as some of the most talented directors in the industry, including John Avnet, Glen Ficarra, John Sequa, and Matt Weiner on film, and Ernest Dickerson, Lone Scherfig, Stefano Sollima, and Laura Belsey on television.
Despite his success, Paone has always remained deeply rooted in his hometown of New Orleans, spending 18 months in Los Angeles to further his career before returning home. Since Hurricane Katrina, he has lived in his home in the Bywater neighborhood, just a short distance from the Mississippi River, and has continued to draw inspiration from the vibrant culture and community of his beloved city.
