April Martucci was born in Rockville Centre, a suburb of New York City, to parents of Italian, Estonian, and Dutch descent. She spent her childhood on Long Island before embarking on a journey of extensive travel around the world at a young age. April resided in London, Prague, and Berlin before making the Upper West Side of Manhattan her home.
Martucci graduated from the State University of New York, Purchase College, and later returned to NYC, where she found her theater family at Herbert Berghof studio. She studied with renowned teachers such as Uta Hagan and Austin Pendleton, and went on to perform in their showcases. Her most celebrated role was as the Queen in "The Abdication" by Ruth Wolff, which allowed her to delve into the dark side of Swedish Queen Christina's psyche.
As a young child, April began her career in print modeling, but her agent suggested changing her last name, deeming "Martucci" too ethnic. While attending Oceanside High School in NY, she scheduled her classes to end at 1 pm to travel to the West Village and take classes at the Joffrey Ballet School, where she later performed with the company. Her high school friends remembered her sewing pointe shoes in the cafeteria while everyone else partied, showcasing her dedication to her craft.
April traveled to Havana, Cuba, to study Afro-Cuban dance and salsa, and to Buenos Aires, Argentina, for Argentine tango intensives. During her time at Purchase College, she fell in love with the ancient practice of Yoga and later developed her own method, FireDragonYoga(TM),which earned her the title of "most in demand" by NY Magazine's yearly 'Best of NY issue'.
Martucci describes herself as an introvert, but also attributes her common sense and street smarts to her extensive travels and living in NYC for most of her life. She is currently learning to box with pro-fighter/coach Wale Omotoso at Churchill Boxing Club in Los Angeles.
