Lina Volonghi was born on November 15, 1973, in Milan, Italy. She graduated from the School of Dramatic Art Paul Grassi in Milan in 1996, winning the Lina Volonghi prize that same year. Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards, including the Prize of the Criticism in 2010, the Hystrio Prize in 2011, and the Ubu Prize in 2014.
Volonghi is one of the founders of the theatrical company ATIR in Milan, where she has performed in various shows, including Romeo and Juliet, Lear, Where is the Wonderful Life, As a Camel in an Eaves, Baccanti, Troiane, Women in Parliament, Here's My City, Than To From In With Above For Among Among Shakespeare, You Torch under the Moggio, Possible Rebellions, and Return in House.
She has also collaborated with other directors and companies, including Gigi Dall'Aglio, Gabriele Vacis, and Renata Ciaravino. Some of her notable roles include Ruth in Return in House, which earned her the Ubu Prize in 2014, and mother in the film Scialla!
Volonghi has also worked in the cinema, appearing in films such as La variabile umana, Il dolce rumore della vita, and Il colore nascosto delle cose. Moreover, she is an actress and trainer in the special project of the to.T.The.R. "The spaces of the theater", a permanent laboratory of social theater for people with disabilities.
