Ashley Leggat is a talented actress, born into a large family in Hamilton, Ontario. She is the daughter of Roy and Patty, a car dealer and a former Secondary School teacher, respectively, and has four older brothers: Rob, Brett, and twins Todd and Bram.
Growing up, Ashley's brothers were all athletic, playing hockey in the winters and baseball in the summers, which meant she spent a lot of time in arenas and baseball parks. However, Ashley's true passion was dance, which she discovered at the age of two and a half when she started taking Baby Ballet classes. She fell in love with dance and continued to dance competitively until she graduated from high school, earning top soloist awards at various competitions.
Ashley's love for dance was matched by her passion for acting, which she discovered at the age of eight when she attended a summer school acting program at Theatre Aquarius in Hamilton. She landed her first professional role in "The Sound of Music" and went on to star in several plays, including "Jekyll and Hyde", "Jacob Two-Two Meets the Hooded Fang", "The Wizard of Oz", "Anne of Green Gables", and "Cinderella".
As she entered her teenage years, Ashley began to work in television and movies, landing her first TV role in "Real Kids, Real Adventures" and recurring roles on "I was a Sixth Grade Alien", "Ace Lightning", and "The ZackFiles". She also appeared in several films, including "Cadet Kelly", "What Girls Learn", "The Music Man", and "A Very Married Christmas".
At the age of 18, Ashley decided to put her acting career on hold to attend university and pursue a teaching degree. However, she was soon offered the lead role in "Life With Derek" and decided to put her education on hold to focus on her acting career. The show was a huge success, running for four seasons and being sold to Disney and shown in over 100 countries around the world.
After "Life With Derek" ended, Ashley continued to work in television and film, guest-starring on several shows, including "Darcy's Wild Life", "11 Cameras", "The Latest Buzz", "Aaron Stone", and "Unnatural History". She also appeared in several films, including "Vacation with Derek", "Dirty Dancing", and "My Dog's Christmas Miracle".
In her personal life, Ashley is heavily involved with children's hospitals, spending her spare time fundraising for McMaster Sick Kids Hospital, Toronto Sick Kids, and Manitoba Hospital for Children. She is also a huge advocate for anti-bullying, and has been touring across Canada to help raise awareness about the issue.
Ashley is married to her long-time boyfriend Jeremy Williams, a former professional hockey player, and they have three daughters together.
