Aubrey Shea Peeples is a multifaceted individual, a queer actor and jazz pop musician, hailing from the swampy suburbs of Florida. From a young age, they were deeply immersed in the world of theater, working professionally by the time they were just ten years old.
Their journey in the entertainment industry continued with a stint on ABC's Nashville, where they played the role of Layla Grant, a complex character struggling with depression, addiction, divorce, and estrangement from her family. This experience allowed them to tour the country, performing at the renowned Grand Ole Opry multiple times, and showcasing their musical talents in blues and soul.
Following their time on Nashville, Aubrey has gone on to pursue a career in independent filmmaking, writing and directing their debut film "Decadeless," which premiered at the Portland Oregon Women's Film Festival in 2019 and is now available on YouTube. They have also led the pilot "Search & Destroy" for Hulu, based on the music of Carrie Brownstein's band Sleater-Kinney.
In addition to their work in film and television, Aubrey is also a talented musician, releasing their debut album "Happy Birthday" under their musical alter ego "swampz" on November 26, 2021. This album, which is now streaming on platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music, explores themes of depression, anxiety, and PTSD through a sonic blend of jazz, 1940s-era studio movie musicals, and 80s synth pop.
Currently, Aubrey is leading the television series "Unconventional" as Margot, a queer bipolar individual navigating her childhood trauma while starting a family. In the future, they hope to further their education by majoring in Human Evolutionary Biology, Ecology, and Sociology.
Throughout their journey, Aubrey has been deeply grateful for the love and acceptance they have received from the theatrical and queer communities of Orlando, Florida.
