Despite her father's initial disapproval and reservations, she remained resolute in her pursuit of a career in film, ultimately enrolling in the esteemed Moscow State University's Philology Department. However, her academic trajectory was later altered as she transferred to the renowned Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography, where she embarked on a journey of artistic expression and technical exploration.

Svetlana Smirnova's nascent professional trajectory was characterized by her initial association with the esteemed Mosfilm, a prominent film production company, where she had the opportunity to collaborate with the renowned filmmaker Sergei Solovyov, whose creative vision and expertise undoubtedly influenced her artistic development.
