Damon Gough, a talented singer-songwriter from Bolton, is renowned for his iconic tea cosy hats, which have become an integral part of his distinctive persona. The serendipitous encounter between Gough and DJ Andy Votel at Manchester's Generation X bar in the late 1990s marked the beginning of a fruitful partnership that would give rise to the independent record label Twisted Nerve, named after the 1962 Bryan Forbes film of the same name.
This chance meeting ultimately led to the release of Badly Drawn Boy's well-received EPs in the late 1990s. The year 2000 proved to be a pivotal moment in Gough's career, as his debut album "The Hour of Bewilderbeast" won the prestigious Mercury Music Prize, cementing his status as a rising talent in the music industry.
In the following year, Gough was approached to record the soundtrack for the Hugh Grant-starring film "About A Boy", further solidifying his reputation as a versatile and accomplished musician. After a stint with XL Recordings, Gough signed with EMI, releasing a string of successful albums, including "Have You Fed The Fish?", "One Plus One Is One", "Born In The U.K", "Is There Nothing We Could Do?", "It's What I'm Thinking Pt. 1 - Photographing Snowflakes", and "Being Flynn".
