Bárbara Hulanicki, a renowned Polish fashion designer, is widely recognized as the pioneering force behind the iconic British clothing store, Biba. Her illustrious career in the fashion industry dates back to the mid-1950s, when she was a student at the Brighton School of Art, now the University of Brighton Faculty of Arts, from 1954 to 1956.
During her time at the art school, Hulanicki's exceptional talent and creativity caught the attention of the London Evening Standard newspaper, which featured her as the winner of a prestigious beachwear design competition in 1955.
