Barry Jay, a native of New York City, embarked on a transformative journey in 1983 when he relocated to Los Angeles with the aspiration of becoming a songwriter. As he delved deeper into his creative pursuits, Barry's passion for fitness began to flourish, eventually leading him to found Barry's Bootcamp in 1998. Today, the esteemed fitness brand boasts an impressive global presence, with over 90 studios worldwide.
Prior to his foray into the world of fitness, Barry's childhood was marked by an early fascination with filmmaking. Utilizing his trusty Super 8 camera, he would craft his own horror movies, a passion that would endure throughout his adult life. In 2015, Barry made his debut as a screenwriter with the horror film The Chosen, produced by Terror Films. The following year, he contributed to the horror anthology Patient Seven, penning the wraparound story for the production.
Barry's directorial debut, Ashes, premiered in recent years, with the script serving as his own original work. Released by 1091 Media, the film marked a significant milestone in his career. Building upon this success, Barry went on to helm his second feature, Killer Therapy, which saw the light of day in 2020. His forthcoming project, The Way Out, is slated for release on February 10th, 2023.
When not immersed in the world of entertainment, Barry can be found residing in Las Vegas with his loving husband and their four rescue pups.
