Ben Maccabee, an American actor, was born in Haifa, Israel. His mother, Sima Cohen Kobby, was a nurse and homemaker, while his father, Judah Maccabee Kobby, was a merchant marine and restaurant owner.
At the age of 14, Ben left home to attend a boarding school for four years, where he gained independence and learned to "survive" on his own. Despite a rough childhood, he focused on martial arts and maintaining good grades.
Ben's passion for films was ignited by watching iconic actors such as Steve McQueen, Marlon Brando, Charles Bronson, Clint Eastwood, James Coburn, Sylvester Stallone, and Bruce Lee. However, his dream of making it in Hollywood was put on hold when he joined the Israeli Defense Force for four years, ranking First Sgt.
After being honorably discharged, Ben acquired a Bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering and a degree in Physical Fitness. He then moved to America, finally pursuing his dream.
Ben attended the Estelle Harmen Actors workshop in Hollywood and married his childhood sweetheart, Ronit, with whom he had a son, Judah Dean.
Ben's acting career took off with roles in "Knights and Warriors" in 1992 and "Deadly Eyes" in 1994. He also starred in "Enter the Blood Ring" and "Broken Bars" for Gun for Hire Films.
Ben later directed, wrote, and starred in "The Ultimate Prey" for his company, Tiberia Pictures. However, his career was put on hold when he had to focus on raising his son.
In 2005, Ben received a call from the History Channel to audition for the role of Hannibal the Great, which he ultimately booked. He also wrote, directed, and starred in "Moses, Fallen In the City of Angels" that year.
Ben is a dedicated father to his three sons, J Dean, Harel, and Adi Joshua, with his ex-wife Ronit. Dean, his eldest son, is also an actor and writer.
In 2009, Ben married Sabit Adry, and they had a son, Harel. Sabit was a political assistant to Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and is now a certified Children's program director.
Ben is also the owner of Steel Buffalo Motors, Inc. in west Los Angeles. He and his family reside in Los Angeles, California.
