Person Biography:
Bertrand (Bert) Cardozo was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to two Telecom entrepreneurs, Martine (Deas) and Patrick Cardozo. He is the oldest of three siblings and demonstrated exceptional abilities to easily assimilate concepts and surprising memory from an early age. His grandmother, Jacqueline Turian, a teacher and writer, used his skills as part of a personal study, teaching him the alphabet and word combinations by the age of 18 months.
As a child, Bert was fascinated with filmmaking and at the age of 12, he created his own short film using his parents' camcorder. He wrote, directed, and cast his siblings and cousins in the film, deciding not to act in it himself to ensure his vision was realized.
Bert's parents sent him to boarding school in Boca Raton, Florida, where he discovered his passion for acting in Stagecraft class. He worked as a stage manager for six plays over three semesters, but was hesitant to audition due to his tri-athlete commitments.
After high school, Bert was eager to pursue acting in college, but his father encouraged him to pursue a more stable career. Bert reluctantly applied to the University of Hartford's Computer Science program and was accepted. However, his family's safety concerns led them to sell their business and move to Toronto, Canada, where Bert was pulled from the university after his freshman year.
Bert then studied Computer Science at York University, but eventually dropped out to pursue his acting dreams. He graduated from the Toronto Film School in 2008 and began acting professionally in 2012.
