Bishnu is a renowned writer, director, and producer, with a National Award to his credit, having completed his Postgraduate Diploma in Cinema from the prestigious Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI).
Selected for the Talent Campus India in 2007, Bishnu went on to receive the UK Environment Film Fellowship in 2010, solidifying his reputation as a talented filmmaker.
Throughout his career, Bishnu has worked on numerous projects, including feature films such as Shukranu, Bagher Bachcha, Pratyabartan, I was Born in Delhi, and The Diary of a Refugee, which have garnered numerous awards, including the National Film Award, and have been featured in prominent film festivals like IDFA and IFFI.
Bishnu's films have been supported or co-produced by esteemed organizations such as Sundance Institute, Japan Broadcasting Corporation/NHK, British Council, British High Commission, Films Division, Government of India, and Public Service Broadcasting Trust, and have been telecast on platforms like National Geographic, NHK, YLE, and Doordarshan.
As a screenwriter, Bishnu's debut feature film script, Ram Ji Ka Ghoda, was selected for the Drishyam | Sundance Screenwriters Lab 2016, while his debut feature fiction film as director, Shukranu, was written and produced by him in collaboration with Reliance Entertainment.
Bishnu's debut feature fiction film as producer, Mangta Jogi, is set to release soon, marking another milestone in his illustrious career.
In addition to his creative endeavors, Bishnu has held various academic and administrative positions, including serving as the Head/Director Programming – DocedgeKolkata, Asian Forum for Documentary, from 2010 to 2018, and as a jury member for the National Film Awards, Docaviv International Film Festival, National Students' Films Awards, and other prestigious events.
Throughout his career, Bishnu has also conducted numerous workshops and classes, and has participated in sessions as an industry expert/guest faculty at institutions such as FTII, SRFTI, IIT Bombay, Mumbai University, and Manipal University, among many others.
