Boyana Balta, situated comfortably in the middle of a trio of siblings, is surrounded by an elder sister named Mirjana and a younger brother named Aleks. Her father, Velimir Balta, a fearless and audacious individual, embarked on a perilous and daring escapade, cleverly disguising his true intentions by feigning a vacation. His ingenious plan was to evade the oppressive grasp of communism in the former Yugoslav region, a bold and courageous move that would have far-reaching consequences for their family's future.
It would be a span of three years before Velimir, accompanied by his mother, would make the courageous and decisive choice to leave their native land and start anew in the vibrant city of Montreal, Canada.
