Branimir Popovic, a distinguished figure in Montenegrin cultural circles, held the esteemed position of Minister of Culture in the Montenegrin government, serving alongside Prime Minister Filip Vujanovic from 2000 to 2003.
Prior to his tenure in government, Popovic was the director of the City Theatre Podgorica, the capital city's premier theatrical institution. Currently, he is the esteemed director of the Montenegrin National Theatre (MNT),a position he has held with great distinction.
Throughout his illustrious career, Popovic has made a significant impact on the Montenegrin theatre scene, with numerous iconic roles to his credit. One of his most notable performances was as Bishop Danilo in the production of "Gorski Vijenac" ("Mountain Wrath"),a work by Petar II Petrovic Njegos, directed by Bransilav Micunovic in 1997.
Popovic has also brought to life the character of Dr. Soc in "Princeza Ksenija od Crne Gore" (Princess Ksenija of Montenegro),directed by Radmila Vojvodic in 1997. His portrayal of Rodion Romanovic Raskolnikov in "Zlocin i Kazna" (Crime and Punishment),directed by Egon Savin in 1998, was another standout performance.
In the trilogy "Requiem of the 20th Century", Popovic played the role of Don Juan, directed by Radmila Vojvodic in 2000. He also appeared in "Nora", directed by Branislav Micunovic in 2000, and in Maxim Gorki's "Petit Bourgeoisie", directed by Paolo Magelli in 2001, where he brought to life the character of Nil.
