Buster's remarkable journey in the world of martial arts began at the tender age of eleven, when he started training in traditional WadoRyu karate. As he progressed, he transitioned to freestyle, a move that would shape the trajectory of his life in profound ways. Under the expert guidance of his instructors, Buster achieved numerous accolades, including claiming the British junior title and earning a place in the prestigious "Guinness Book of Records" for performing an astonishing 218 kicks at head height in a single minute at the age of thirteen. He later shattered his own record by completing an impressive 256 kicks in the same time frame.
As Buster continued to hone his skills, he dominated the men's division from a remarkably young age of eighteen, winning the "Gold Coast Classic" in Florida in spectacular fashion against a four-time champion. By the age of nineteen, he had risen to the top of the European rankings, and at twenty, he captured the world middleweight ju-jitsu title in New Zealand. His impressive streak continued, as he secured the world light-heavyweight title in West Virginia, U.S.A at twenty-one, and the world heavyweight title in Reno, Nevada, U.S.A at twenty-three.
After a brief retirement at the age of twenty-five, Buster decided to focus on a stunt career, leveraging his extensive background in martial arts, as well as his skills in boxing, gymnastics (where he was a member of the county squad),and high diving (North of England champion).
