Çagla Zencirci was born in Ankara, Turkey, in the year 1976.
Alongside Guillaume Giovanetti, they comprise a directorial duo, with their operational base situated in both Paris and Istanbul. As a collaborative effort, they have directed numerous short films across the Middle East, Europe, Central Asia, and the Far-East. Some of their notable works include Ata, a France/Turkey co-production released in 2008, and Six, a Japan/France co-production released in 2009. These films have been selected in over 200 film festivals worldwide, including prestigious events such as the Berlinale, Locarno, Rotterdam, Tampere, FIDMarseille, Clermont-Ferrand, and many more. Furthermore, they have collectively won over 40 awards.
In 2012, the directorial duo achieved a significant milestone with the release of their first feature film, Noor. This France/Turkey/Pakistan co-production was developed at the renowned Moulin d'Andé in France and shot on location in Pakistan, thanks to the support of the MEDIA Program. Noor premiered at the ACID section of the 65th Cannes International Film Festival in 2012, subsequently competing at the 47th Karlovy Vary Film Festival and being selected for the Busan International Film Festival. The film received numerous accolades, including Grand Prix awards at the Paris' “Chéries-Chéris” Festival, Dieppe, France, the New York Asian Film Festival, Bogota, Colombia, and Mississauga, Canada. Additionally, Noor received several other awards at festivals in Rome, Milan, Vancouver, Dublin, and Toulouse.
After receiving over 80 festival invitations worldwide, Noor was theatrically released in France in April 2014, garnering a positive reception from both critics and audiences.
