Cameo Wood is a renowned EMMY Award-Winning filmmaker, celebrated for her remarkable work in the film industry. Her most recent film, Real Artists, released in 2017, is currently available to stream online. This talented filmmaker is currently working on her first feature, a testament to her dedication to her craft.
In 2018, Cameo Wood was honored with the prestigious 'Best Emerging Artist' award by Ava DuVernay at the AT&T Film Awards. Her film, Real Artists, has received widespread acclaim, winning over 35 awards, including a 2019 EMMY, and has been nominated for numerous other accolades. The film has also enjoyed screenings at various festivals, museums, and television stations globally.
In addition to her work in film, Cameo Wood has also produced and co-directed episodes of The Alternative Guide to Secret Beijing, which was featured on Atlas Obscura. Her first film, Dukha in Summer, premiered at the St. Louis Film International Film Festival and received nominations for best short at five other festivals.
Cameo Wood is an active member of several organizations, including Cinefemme, Women in Film, Alliance of Women Directors, Film Independent, WomenNMedia, and the co-founder of the SF chapter of Dinner with Dames. Prior to her career in film, Cameo Wood worked as an engineer at GTE Labs, Sprint, Lucent, and Cisco from 1995-2008. In 2008, she founded Her Majesty's Secret Beekeeper, the first urban beekeeping store in America, and serves on the board of the beekeeping non-profit SF Bee-Cause.
