Camilla Belle Routh, known professionally as Belle, was born in Los Angeles, California, to Deborah, a fashion designer, and Jack Wesley Routh, a country music composer and construction company owner. Her mother, of Brazilian descent, and father, of English, German, and French ancestry, are both from different parts of the world. Camilla is an only child and was named after a character from her mother's favorite Brazilian soap opera, Cavalo de Aço, played by Renata Sorrah.
Growing up, Camilla attended St Paul's Catholic Elementary School in West Los Angeles and later enrolled in the prestigious all-girls Marlborough School in Los Angeles. At school, she developed a passion for classical piano and languages, even becoming fluent in Portuguese.
Before she turned one year old, Camilla appeared in a national print commercial, marking her early start in the entertainment industry. At the age of five, she landed roles in two TV movies, Trouble Shooters: Trapped Beneath the Earth and Empty Cradle. Due to her work commitments, Camilla never completed a full year of school, so she took a break from acting at the age of 13 to focus on her studies. She returned to acting at the age of 16, starring in the film The Ballad of Jack and Rose.
Camilla's breakthrough role came with Roland Emmerich's 10,000 BC in 2008, which provided her with significant exposure. In addition to her acting career, Camilla has also explored her mother's world, modeling for Vera Wang's Princess fragrance from 2006 to 2008.
Furthermore, Camilla is involved in various charitable endeavors and serves as an international spokesperson for "Kids With A Cause," a organization that supports children's welfare.
