Candy Kugel, a distinguished voting member of both the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Television Academy, embarked on her illustrious career at Perpetual Motion Pictures, where she crafted political cartoons for NBC, advertisements, and television specials.
Throughout her tenure, Kugel has been an integral part of the independent film community, having created over a dozen award-winning independent shorts that are now part of the Museum of Modern Art's Film Archives.
Her latest independent film, "I,Candy", made its world premiere at the New York Museum of Modern Art on April 23, 2018.
Notably, Kugel is renowned for her work on the original MTV "Top of the Hour" IDs, featuring the iconic MTV flag planted on the moon, as well as the "I Want my MTV" national campaigns.
Through Buzzco Associates, Kugel has developed a diverse range of projects, including television programming, educational films, and advertisements. Some of her most notable works include "Talking About Sex" for Planned Parenthood, which won the Annecy Cristal award, and "Between the Lions" for WGBH, which earned an Emmy.
Furthermore, Kugel has also produced a valuable resource on aphasia, "It's Still Me!", a 17-minute DVD that has made a significant impact in the field.
In her most recent endeavor, Kugel served as Executive Producer and developed "Angela's Christmas", a half-hour television special slated to air in December 2018, in collaboration with the Irish animation studio, Brown Bag.
