Alani's artistic journey began as a performer on television and stages worldwide, but his creative passions soon led him to a new mission: developing immersive, VR, and streamed theatrical productions that merge technology, theater, and global audiences. This innovative approach culminated in the streamed production of Meat Puppet: The Filmed Experience, which preceded his invitation to the National Association of Musical Theater's inaugural Festival Observership for Early Career Directors under the mentorship of Warren Adams.
As a playwright, Alani wrote the book for the new musical At the River I Stand, which premiered at the Johnny Mercer Writers Colony at Goodspeed and TheatreWorks Hartford's WORKshop Series. The musical also won the Theatre Accelerator New Reality Edition Sing Tank Winner award. Furthermore, Alani wrote and directed The Calling: A Musical VR Experience, an interactive precursor to At the River I Stand, which was featured at the 32nd Annual NAMT and 2023 PXR conferences, showcasing the potential of emerging XR technology in developing theatrical properties.
As an actor, Alani's television credits include notable roles on NBC's Law & Order, CBS' Blue Bloods, TNT's Major Crimes, ABC's Castle, Nickelodeon's Cousins for Life, Casagrandes, and Loud House, among others. He has also performed at esteemed theaters across the nation, such as the Geffen Playhouse, Seattle Repertory Company, Arena Stage, Wooly Mammoth Theater, TheatreWorks Hartford, and Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park.
As a voice over talent, Alani has amassed over 450 bookings for major broadcast companies and brands, including ABC's Good Morning America, Nickelodeon, and MTV. He is set to voice a series regular for the upcoming HBOMax/Cartoon Network animated preschool series Jessica's Little Big World, a spin-off of the hit Emmy Award-winning series Craig of the Creek, and will appear on screen in the upcoming Netflix feature film Arthur the King, starring Mark Wahlberg.
Alani is a graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and has received the prestigious Ron Howard Fellowship.
