Carolyn Louise Kramer, a remarkable individual, was born in Columbus, Ohio, to Warren A. Kramer and Ann (nee Caldwell) Kramer. However, her early life took an unforeseen turn when her mother, Ann, tragically passed away when Carolyn was merely 18 months old, leaving behind a young and vulnerable child.
Carolyn's academic odyssey commenced with her enrollment at the Ohio State University Laboratory School in Columbus, Ohio, where she established a solid foundation for her future scholarly endeavors. Subsequently, she relocated to MacDuffie School in Springfield, Massachusetts, earning her high school diploma. Her academic trajectory continued with her attendance at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, where she began her freshman year and had the privilege of meeting Rod Serling, a World War II veteran who had returned to college after the war. This serendipitous encounter would blossom into a romantic relationship, with the couple ultimately deciding to enter into a lifelong commitment on July 31, 1948.
