The fusion of cultures was evident from the very beginning, as her parents, an Angolan architect and a Portuguese journalist/teacher, brought together their diverse backgrounds to shape the earliest years of her life. As she grew, her formative years were profoundly influenced by the rich cultural tapestry that permeates the very fabric of Portugal, where she was raised from the tender age of two.
As the years went by, Catarina's ardor for the art of filmmaking continued to evolve, her enthusiasm growing exponentially with each passing day, until the age of twenty, when she made the daring and ambitious decision to uproot her life and relocate to the vibrant, sun-kissed metropolis of Los Angeles, a city renowned for its thriving film industry, in order to pursue her cherished dream of becoming a filmmaker. It was in this cosmopolitan hub, teeming with creative energy and opportunities, that she enrolled in the prestigious New York Film Academy, an institution highly respected for its rigorous film programs and esteemed faculty, where she would eventually earn a degree in filmmaking, a testament to her hard work, dedication, and unwavering passion for the craft.
Catarina's tenure at the esteemed academy presented her with a unique opportunity to spearhead her inaugural short film, "Caged", a groundbreaking project that enabled her to meticulously craft her artistic skills and meticulously bring her imaginative vision to fruition.
