Biography

Catherine Hessling, originally known as Andrée Madeleine Heuschling, was a French actress of considerable repute, whose career spanned both the stage and screen. Notably, she held the distinction of being the first wife of the renowned film director, Jean Renoir. During her time in the entertainment industry, Hessling appeared in a total of 15 films, the majority of which were silent motion pictures. Her acting career eventually came to a close, and she opted to retire from the profession, subsequently withdrawing from public life in the mid-1930s.
