Catherine Malfitano, a celebrated American operatic soprano and opera director, came into this world on April 18, 1948, in the vibrant city of New York, where her mother, Maria Maslova, a graceful ballet dancer, and her father, Joseph Malfitano, a talented violinist, fostered her nascent passion for the performing arts from a very young age.
Noted soprano, Malfitano, embarked upon a distinguished academic odyssey, commencing at the esteemed High School of Music and Art, where she honed her craft alongside fellow aspiring artists. Subsequently, she pursued further studies at the revered Frank Corsaro Studio, a renowned institution that has nurtured the talents of numerous accomplished performers. Ultimately, Malfitano's academic journey culminated in her graduation from the prestigious Manhattan School of Music in 1971.
