Catherine Steadman is a talented English actress and author, who has gained widespread recognition for her captivating portrayal of Mabel Lane Fox in the fifth series of ITV's esteemed drama, Downton Abbey, which aired in 2014. Her debut novel, a thought-provoking psychological thriller titled Something in the Water, was published in June 2018 by esteemed publishing houses Simon & Schuster UK and Penguin Random House USA.
Prior to her literary endeavors, Steadman honed her craft at the prestigious Oxford School of Drama, making her screen debut as Julia Bertram in the ITV adaptation of Jane Austen's Mansfield Park, opposite an impressive cast including Billie Piper, James D'arcy, Rory Kinnear, and Michelle Ryan. Since then, she has appeared in a diverse range of television dramas, including the CBC/Showtime co-production The Tudors, playing the role of Joan Bulmer, as well as Holby City, Law & Order: UK, Missing, Lewis, Quirke alongside the acclaimed Gabriel Byrne, Fearless opposite the talented Helen McCrory, and Victoria.
