Biography

Charito Mertz's life began in Cebu, Philippines, where she was born to Nolito Jarina, a civil engineer, and Marcela Jarina, her mother. Her early years were marked by a sense of adventure, as she traveled extensively before even starting her formal education, visiting countries such as Australia and Nauru before eventually settling in the United States.

As a child of the islands, Charito developed a deep connection with her cultural heritage, and this is reflected in her love of traditional activities, including the art of hula dancing. In fact, she still enjoys practicing this ancient art form to this day, and is also known to play the ukulele, a traditional instrument often associated with Hawaiian music.

Today, Charito is married to Luke Mertz and is a proud mother of two children. Despite her many accomplishments and experiences, she remains humble and grounded, and her love of her island roots continues to play an important role in her life.
