Deepak Chakraborty, professionally known as Chiranjeet Chakraborty, is a multifaceted individual born on November 2, 1955, in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. He is an acclaimed actor, director, and politician, having made a significant mark in the Bengali film industry.
Chiranjeet's journey began at Mitra Institution, where he completed his Higher Secondary education. He then pursued a degree in Architecture at Jadavpur University, although he did not appear for his final examination. He has also worked as a newsreader on television and as a writer for Desh magazine.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Chiranjeet is a talented stage artist and has been married with a daughter. His acting career spans over four decades, with his debut film being Sonay Sohaga in 1981, although it did not bring him instant success.
However, his breakthrough role came in 1984 with Anjan Choudhury's film Shotru, followed by his first solo hit, Antarale, in 1985. He then went on to star in a series of successful films, including Pratikar, Paapi, Paap Punyo, Beder Meye Joshna, Amarkantak, Jibon Joubon, Bhoy, Shaitan, Pennam Kolkata, Chotushkone, and many more.
Chiranjeet's career received a significant boost after starring in Rituparno Ghosh's 2000 film Bariwali, which cemented his position as one of the most successful actors in Bengali cinema. Throughout his illustrious career, he has received numerous accolades, including the BFJA Award for his film Abaidha in 2002, directed by Gul Bahar Singh.
