Biography

Choi Jung Hoon is a multifaceted South Korean artist who has made a name for himself as the main vocalist of the indie rock band Jannabi. Since his childhood, he has been fascinated by music and found inspiration in the works of renowned musicians such as Elton John, Ozzy Osbourne, and the Korean band Sanulrim. His teacher played a significant role in motivating him to pursue his passion for music.

Choi's musical journey took a significant turn when he met guitarist Kim Do Hyung at Yatap High School, where they would later form Jannabi. Despite being accepted into Kyung Hee University's Business Administration program, Choi decided to postpone his studies to focus on his music career.

In 2012, Choi's older brother founded Peponi Music and launched Jannabi, but the band had to start from scratch, performing on the streets and in small clubs. In 2013, Jannabi entered the popular music competition "Superstar K 5," with Choi making it to the top 7 in the vocal group "Plan B" while his bandmate Kim Do Hyung and former member Yoon Young Hyun were eliminated early on.

Since 2014, Jannabi has gained significant popularity, releasing several digital singles and original soundtracks for dramas. In 2016, the band released their debut full-length album "Monkey Hotel," with Choi credited as the lyricist. In 2019, the song "For Lovers Who Hesitate" reached the Gaon Digital Chart, and Jannabi embarked on their first national tour.

When the other two band members were called to serve in the military, Choi took on the role of a one-man band, showcasing his versatility and dedication to the band. In 2022, he joined the music competition show "Hot Singers" as a music director, further solidifying his reputation as a talented musician.
