Colin McIvor, a graduate of the University of Ulster in Belfast, holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Visual Communications. His debut feature film, Cup Cake, released in 2010, garnered numerous international awards, including the First Place award in the Best Feature Category at the Rhode Island International Film Festival and the Audience Award at the Belfast Film Festival, both in 2010.
McIvor's second feature, Zoo, written and directed by him, was released in the United States and the United Kingdom in 2018, receiving widespread critical acclaim. The film won awards at the Seattle International Film Festival, Giffoni Film Festival, Filemon International Film Festival, and Castellinaria International Film Festival, all in 2018.
In addition to his feature films, McIvor has written and directed a variety of successful short films, including the multi-award-winning Charlotte's Red, released in 2005, as well as Black Taxi, Stainless Steel, and No Cigar.
When not working on his own projects, McIvor serves as a TV commercials director in Ireland, the United Kingdom, and abroad, collaborating with prominent clients such as Lucozade, Kellogg's, Danske Bank (Northern Bank),and Konzum.
McIvor is currently developing a range of feature film and television projects and is represented by Dench Arnold in the United Kingdom and ICM in the United States.
