Cüneyt Kaya, a multifaceted individual of great distinction, emerged into the world in the year 1980, within the city of Berlin, a place that has not only been his birthplace but also his abode and professional hub to this very day.
Before embarking on a career that would ultimately bring him acclaim in the realm of filmmaking, Kaya initially explored the vast and complex world of mathematics, enrolling in the prestigious Freie Universität Berlin, an institution renowned for its academic excellence.
In the year 2004, a pivotal moment in the life of Kaya, marked the commencement of a groundbreaking documentary filmmaking endeavor, one that would take him on a journey across the European continent, delving into the poignant stories of refugee development, a project of immense importance commissioned by the esteemed European Union.
For several months, Kaya immersed himself in this undertaking, forging lasting connections with local filmmakers, as he embarked on a meticulous research and filming expedition that took him to the culturally rich and diverse nations of England, Poland, Italy, and Spain.
Kaya's cinematic accomplishments began to flourish in the years 2009 and 2010, as he embarked on a collaborative venture, co-writing and co-directing the film "Die Summe meiner einzelnen Teile" alongside the acclaimed director Hans Weingartner. This notable project served as a testament to Kaya's innovative and artistic abilities, as he brought his unique vision to the screen.
Following the widespread acclaim and success of his feature film "Ummah - Unter Freunden", Kaya continued to hone his craft, taking on the responsibility of directing the TV film "Dimitrios Schulze". This project was an adaptation of the renowned author Fred Breinersdorfer's book, and it showcased Kaya's ability to effectively translate written works into compelling visual narratives.
In the year 2016, Kaya embarked on a collaborative endeavour with renowned filmmakers Detlev Buck and Constantin Lieb to craft the screenplay for the forthcoming production "Gorillas". This project was conceived as an adaptation of Ferdinand von Schirach's captivating short story "Der Schlüssel". The production, which is set to be based in Berlin, is expected to come to life later this year, with Detlev Buck at the helm.
