Biography

Chin Y. Lee, a distinguished individual with a rich academic background, earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from National Southwest Associated University in Kunming, China, in the year 1940. This marked the beginning of his educational journey, which would eventually take him to the United States.

In 1943, Lee made the bold decision to enter the United States, where he would continue his studies at Yale University. His academic pursuits did not go unnoticed, and by 1947, he had successfully earned his Master of Fine Arts degree.

Lee's literary talents soon came to the forefront, as he published his first novel, "The Flower Drum Song: A Novel of San Francisco's Grant Avenue," in 1957. This seminal work would go on to have a profound impact on the world of entertainment, as it formed the basis of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical and the subsequent film adaptation.
