Daniel Percival is a highly acclaimed and accomplished writer/director in the film and television industry, boasting a BAFTA award to his name. Initially trained as a film editor, Percival transitioned to directing documentaries for the BBC in the mid-1990s.
In 2001, he made a groundbreaking contribution with the docu-drama Smallpox 2002, a feature-length fictional documentary that meticulously recreated the events of a bio-terrorist attack in New York. The film garnered widespread international acclaim and sparked controversy due to its unflinching subject matter and innovative filmmaking techniques.
Percival's subsequent work included his first television movie, Dirty War, a production of HBO and BBC Films. Based on two years of meticulous journalistic research, Dirty War fictionalized the story of a Dirty Bomb terror attack in the heart of London. This project earned Percival the prestigious BAFTA award for Best New Drama Director.
Since then, Percival has written and directed numerous original TV series, including the Golden Globe-nominated State Within, featuring Sharon Gless and Jason Isaacs; the RTS-nominated and Edgar-winning Place of Execution, starring Juliette Stevenson; and the action-packed adventure series Strike Back, starring Richard Armitage, Jodhi May, Philip Winchester, Andrew Lincoln, and Sullivan Stapleton.
Percival also co-executive produced the second season of Strike Back for Sky and HBO/Cinemax. He is currently developing a feature film and several original TV series for US and UK networks, solidifying his reputation as a versatile and accomplished storyteller.
