Biography

Dary Reis, a remarkable individual, entered this world on February 12th, 1926, in the quaint village of Formigueiro, nestled within the boundaries of São Sepé County, a region situated in the picturesque state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. At the time of his arrival, his family called the small village their home, but their residence was short-lived, as they soon packed their bags and relocated to the more populous town of Santa Cruz do Sul, where they settled until 1931. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in their lives, as they made the move to São Leopoldo, a charming town situated approximately 15 miles north of the state capital, Porto Alegre, which would serve as their new home for many years to come.

Dary's life was marred by the cruel hand of fate, as he was dealt a devastating blow when his mother's life was tragically cut short in 1939, leaving him reeling from the shock and heartbreak of her untimely passing.

In the aftermath of this personal tragedy, Dary attempted to channel his emotions into a new passion, turning his sights on a career as a stage actor, with a tentative start around 1945.

Undeterred by the setbacks and challenges he had already faced, Dary was determined to pursue his dreams and make a name for himself in the show business world, and so he made the bold decision to relocate to Rio de Janeiro, the city that was rapidly emerging as the hub of Brazil's burgeoning entertainment industry.

By moving to this vibrant and cosmopolitan city, Dary was positioning himself at the epicenter of the country's major opportunities in the entertainment industry, and was poised to take the first steps towards realizing his ambition of becoming a star of the stage and screen.

Dary's early acting career was marked by obstacles, but he soon found his footing by collaborating with the renowned Dulcina de Moraes' theatrical troupe, participating in a multitude of productions that showcased his talent and dedication to the craft.

Throughout his extensive career, Dary has had the privilege of appearing in a staggering twenty-two films and twenty-six television soap operas, with a significant portion of these projects being produced by the esteemed Globo TV network.

Dary's personal life was a complex tapestry woven from the threads of two marriages, each leaving an indelible mark on his life.

His first union was with the talented actress Sonia de Moraes, with whom he shared a daughter named Leana, a bright light that shone brightly before her untimely passing, leaving behind a grandson named Dary Hugo dos Reis Neto, a cherished reminder of her existence.

Following the dissolution of his first marriage, Dary embarked on a new chapter in his life, marrying Leda Lucia Marques in 1962. This union bore fruit in the form of two children, Katia Christina and Dary Hugo dos Reis Junior, who would go on to create a new generation of loved ones in their own right.

Katia, in turn, gave birth to Pedro Alberto and Ana Clara, two precious grandchildren who brought joy to Dary's life. Meanwhile, Dary Junior's own offspring, Lucas Santos dos Reis and João Felipe dos Reis, added to the family's rich tapestry, solidifying Dary's role as a loving grandfather to a total of four grandchildren.

Dary's illustrious career at TV Globo came to a close with his involvement in the captivating soap opera 'Bang Bang' in the year 2005, effectively bringing to a close a remarkable sixty-year journey in the entertainment industry that had spanned an entire lifetime.

Tragically, his life was cut short on December 26th, 2010, following a brief yet intense period of unconsciousness brought on by cerebral-vascular disease, which ultimately proved to be his final chapter.
