David Barroso, also known as David Barroso Jr, was born with a nickname or two, it seems. Growing up in Astoria, Queens, New York City, among most of his family members, David was the youngest of 11 children. Tragedy struck at a young age when he lost his father, followed by the loss of two sisters and then his mother. This devastating experience made David realize the importance of life and ultimately shaped him into the person he is today.
David attended Long Island City High School, before going on to Queensborough College. However, his true passion lay in acting, which he pursued at H.B.Studios. David's impressive physique didn't go unnoticed, as he went on to win 27 trophies in the NPC bodybuilding competition, including titles such as Mr. East Coast, middleweight, most muscular, and overall.
Before making it big on screen, David honed his craft by studying at the NYU Master Class off-campus and the Actors Studio for five years. He waited patiently for the right opportunity to audition and get a headshot. That big break finally came in 2003 when he landed a role on Law & Order, followed by SUV.
David's breakthrough role came when he was called in by casting director Dito Montiel to fight alongside Channing Tatum. He was later called in to play the role of Spider-Man in the film The Clapper, but the scene was ultimately cut from the final version. Despite this setback, David remains optimistic and is currently working on his autobiography, titled "Falling Down but Never Staying Down".
The book chronicles David's journey from his childhood in Queens, NYC, to his days as a stockbroker on Wall Street, where he learned the importance of finance and how to fund his own film production company. Today, David resides in Los Angeles, California, and continues to pursue his passion for acting and writing.
