David Gamburg's life journey began on August 6, 1950, in the vibrant city of Riga, Latvia, a place that would later play a significant role in shaping his future. As his formative years unfolded, he made the decision to relocate to the culturally rich city of Leningrad, where he had the opportunity to further his education.

As a soldier serving in the Baltic Military District, he simultaneously pursued his passion for the performing arts, showcasing his talents through amateur performances, crafting original music and lyrics for the esteemed Sprīdītis ensemble, and leveraging his creative abilities to the fullest extent.

Upon the completion of his education, he made the transition to the Riga Polytechnic Institute, where he took on the esteemed role of director for the student theater studio "Monologue", and went on to stage numerous performances in various prestigious theaters, further honing his skills and leaving a lasting impact on the world of theater.

The late 1970s witnessed a significant turning point in the life of the individual in question, as he, along with his family, made the bold decision to emigrate to the United States, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.

Fast forward to 1983, a year that would prove to be a pivotal moment in the development of his professional career, as he found himself working alongside the illustrious Robin Williams during the filming of the film Moscow on the Hudson.

As fate would have it, their paths crossed in a serendipitous manner, leading to a unique and fruitful collaboration. Initially, he took on the role of teacher, instructing Williams in the intricacies of the Russian language.

However, his expertise and knowledge soon transcended the realm of language instruction, as he became an integral part of Williams' creative process, serving as his acting consultant. This marked the beginning of a long and storied partnership between the two, one that would yield numerous benefits for both parties involved.

As the years went by, Gamburg remained deeply entrenched within the realm of the film industry, forging a lasting professional partnership with none other than the legendary Dolph Lundgren, with whom he collaborated on not one, but two notable projects in 1986: the films Extremely Active and Masters of the Universe. Throughout his illustrious career, Gamburg has consistently demonstrated his versatility as a multifaceted professional, effortlessly transitioning between roles as a television producer, actor, director, and screenwriter, thereby showcasing his remarkable adaptability and range in a wide range of creative capacities, from American television to Russian television, and beyond.

In the vast expanse of Russia, he is predominantly renowned for his extensive contributions as a producer and author of serialized documentaries, delving into the realm of criminality, with a particular emphasis on the critically acclaimed series "Criminal Russia", which spanned an impressive 19-year period from 1995 to 2014.
