David's journey began in Montreal, Canada, where he started acting at a young age, starring in the CTV daily soap opera, Time of Your Life, by the time he was 18. He went on to graduate from Emerson College in Boston with a degree in Musical Theater, and then moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting.
In 1991, David made a deal with his parents to give acting a year, or he would go back to school and get an MBA. He booked several roles, including a lead in an MOW, a commercial, and a guest star, and was well on his way to success.
David landed the starring role in Reality Check, a YouTube series created by the producers of Friends, and soon after, he was cast in the hit TV show Full House, where he played the boyfriend of DJ Tanner. He went on to star in over 60 films and 200 episodes of television, transitioning from playing high school characters to leading men and eventually playing a father.
As his acting career continued, David began teaching acting at the Ivana Chubbuck Studio in Los Angeles and abroad, which led to him being hired as an acting coach on set for other directors. This experience gave him a behind-the-scenes view of filmmaking and sparked his interest in directing and producing.
David has since directed his first three films during the pandemic and has continued to be busy in the industry. Writing was almost an accident, as he started writing A Christmas Letter while waiting on set for a film that lost its funding. The film was optioned several times before finally being made, and David has since written and produced two more features, The Unwilling and Hunt Club.
In 2021, David partnered with Robert A. Daly Jr. to form Latigo Films, which has produced six films in its first year and a half and continues to have an aggressive production slate.
