Person Biography:
Davide Melini was born on April 9, 1979, in Rome. He began his career in 2004 and has since directed six short films: Amore estremo (2006),La sceneggiatura (2006),The Puzzle (2008),The Sweet Hand of the White Rose (2010),Lion (2017),and Deep Shock (2019).
Melini has also worked as an assistant director on various projects, including the TV series Rome (2005),Penny Dreadful (2014),and Into the Badlands (2015),as well as the films Baciami piccina (2006),Mother of Tears (2007),Este amor es de otro planeta (2019),and My Grand Farewell (2020).
His short films have received widespread critical acclaim and have won numerous awards at international film festivals. Lion, in particular, has become one of the most awarded horror short films in history, with a total of 841 awards.
Melini has been recognized for his work in the horror genre, with the American website Dr. Terror Blog of Horror naming him one of the best Italian filmmakers in the genre in 2012. The following year, Creepercast presented him as one of the best horror movie directors in the world.
In 2014, the Swedish website Theatre of Blood paid tribute to the giallo and Italian horror films, analyzing the works of prominent directors such as Mario Bava, Dario Argento, and Lucio Fulci. The article also highlighted the new generation of giallo filmmakers, including Melini, who is considered one of the most promising Italian horror directors.
