Deshbhakta Khanal embarked on a multifaceted career in the entertainment industry, commencing as a stage actor with performances in numerous dramas, including the notable productions "Gorakha Bhartikendra" and "The Merchant of Venice". Subsequently, he transitioned to television, serving as an assistant director on the series "Guruaama Nepalki", marking the beginning of his involvement in the small screen.
Khanal's foray into feature films occurred with the movie "Bijaya Parajaya", in which he simultaneously worked as an actor and assistant director. Since then, he has accumulated an impressive body of work, with over 20 feature films, 45 television serials, 35 audio and stage dramas to his credit.
Beyond his acting and directing pursuits, Khanal has also established himself as a skilled writer, having scripted approximately 20 projects. In 1999, he began working as a full-fledged director in the Nepali film industry, helming movies such as "Pinjada", "Man Mero Mandaina", "Santan Thari Tharika", "Baazee", and "Achanak".
Khanal has also gained valuable experience working on international projects, including the Japanese film "Miteri Gaun" (Tomodachi No Mura),in which he played multiple roles: script writer, assistant director, and actor. His upcoming project is the American film "Highway to Dhampus", in which he will be acting.
