Daljit Singh Dosanjh, popularly known as Diljit Dosanjh, is a multifaceted artist who has made a significant impact in the Indian entertainment industry. He is a talented singer, actor, and television presenter who has worked in both Hindi and Punjabi films.
Born in Dosanjh Kalan, Dosanjh spent his early years in Ludhiana, Punjab, where he was a student of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School. During his school days, he developed a passion for music and would often perform kirtan and sing devotional songs at local Gurdwaras.
Dosanjh's music career began with the release of his first album, Ishq Da Uda Ada, in 2004, followed by his second album, Dil, in the same year. His third album, Smile, released in 2005, gained him wide popularity. He went on to release several successful albums, including Sikh, which featured devotional songs.
Dosanjh made his acting debut in the Punjabi film Mel Karade Rabba in 2010, followed by The Lion of Punjab in 2011 and Jihne Mera Dil Luteya in 2011. His performance in Jihne Mera Dil Luteya earned him the Punjabi International Film Academy Award for Best Actor in 2012.
In 2012, Dosanjh starred in the romantic comedy Jatt & Juliet, which became a huge box office hit. He received the PTC Punjabi Film Award for Best Actor for the movie, and its success led to the making of its sequel, Jatt & Juliet 2, in 2013.
Dosanjh's subsequent films include Disco Singh, Punjab 1984, Sardarji, Ambarsariya, Udta Punjab, Phillauri, Sardaarji 2, Super Singh, Welcome to New York, Arjun Patiala, Shadaa, Good Newwz, Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari, and Honsla Rakh.
In 2022, Dosanjh produced and starred in the comedy film Babe Bhangra Paunde Ne, about three friends who try to get rich by following a shortcut.
