Dolores Sutton was born Dolores Lila Silverstein on February 4, 1927, in New York, New York, to Benjamin and Mary Silverstein. She lived a life that spanned over eight decades, ultimately passing away on May 11, 2009.
Dolores' academic pursuits led her to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from New York University in 1948. While working towards her Master's degree in 1949, she wrote a radio script titled "Siblings," which she sold to NBC and landed a voice role.
Dolores made her television debut in 1950 on the Jack Benny Program, where she played the role of an elderly woman who claimed to be 39 years old, just like Jack Benny. This marked the beginning of her extensive career in daytime television.
Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Dolores appeared in various television shows, including Valiant Lady, Date with Life, From These Roots, As the World Turns, The Edge of Night, Ryan's Hope, All My Children, and General Hospital. Her recurring roles in these shows showcased her versatility as an actress.
In addition to her television work, Dolores had a successful career in theatre. She performed leading roles in three Broadway plays and eight Off-Broadway plays. Her performances at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago in the mid-1960s earned her three nominations for Best Actress at the Sara Siddons Awards.
Dolores' television writing credits include Lady Doc, The Secret Storm, and Loving. She also wrote the screenplay for the two-part film Lady Somebody, which was sold to television.
