Dorien Davies is a multifaceted individual who has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry as an actress, writer, and puppeteer. Born in the picturesque city of Santa Barbara, California, her early life was marked by a sense of wonder and curiosity, which was fostered by her parents' beloved bookstore, The Earthling Bookshop.
As a child, Dorien was already demonstrating a passion for the performing arts, taking part in community theater and local radio commercials. Her natural talent and enthusiasm led her to pursue a degree in Theater from Mount Holyoke College, where she honed her craft and developed a strong foundation in the performing arts.
It was during her time at the Groundings Theater that Dorien met her future husband, actor and writer Kenny Stevenson, and discovered her true calling in improv and sketch comedy. This serendipitous encounter would go on to have a profound impact on her life and career.
In 2005, Dorien embarked on a new journey, training as a puppeteer for the Jim Henson Company's live improvised stage show, "Puppet Up!". This experience not only allowed her to tap into her creativity but also enabled her to find her true calling. She has since continued to work in puppetry, bringing to life dozens of characters for film and television, and has become one of a select few puppeteers worldwide who can operate the Henson Digital Puppetry System.
Dorien's skills extend beyond traditional puppetry, as she is also proficient in numerous styles of puppetry, RC control, and MoCap. Her versatility and adaptability have made her a sought-after talent in the industry.
In recent years, Dorien has expanded her creative horizons, turning her attention to writing and creating children's television content. As a Co-Executive Producer and Co-Creator of the Jim Henson Company's new project "Wowsabout", she has brought her unique perspective and talents to the world of children's entertainment.
